Construction on the new man-made lake in Reston is almost complete. “There is no official name yet,” said Tanis Chalmers, Manager of Economic Development. “The committee is meeting in May to do some brainstorming.”
The water line is currently in the process of being connected and once road bans are lifted the Municipality will start bringing in sand for the beach area.
The lake was dug out, filled with a clay base and then layered with sand. While an official "Grand Opening" is not yet planned, the RM of Pipestone is projecting a late May opening of the area, weather permitting. “We are still accepting donations of $100 buckets of sand,” said Chalmers. “And, we recently were granted $10,000 from Enbridge and a cheque presentation will be held in the near future.”
