 Ms. Main and her Grade 6 class at Reston School came together to design and construct the posters that Reston and District United Appeal will use for the 2017 promotion…Alaina Lobreau and Harleigh Renwick played on the Souris Sabres  Rugby team from March to June and September to the first week of October. This year, their team finished in third place…The Final Terry Fox fundraising squeaked in just over the school goal at $4,068…Lloyd and Joan Atchison to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary on October 21.

10 Yrs. – Oct. 11, 2008

A profit was realized of $5,630.53 at the Reston Fun Fair. Lorna Irwin was passing out pink carnations and pamphlets at the Reston Fun Fair for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Large Raffle of $500 was won by Scott Stanley and Tanner Milliken was the lucky winner of the MX13 Bike….$4,808 was raised at the Terry Fox Run held at the Reston Elementary School.

20 Yrs. – Oct. 13, 1998

Reeve to be Melvin Watt, in by acclamation…Twelve riders from the Reston 4-H Club took part in the 2nd annual Terry Fox Run. They raised a total of $318.00…Bill Harris won the “Guess the Weight” of the 129 lb pumpkin raffle by the Sinclair Lions Club at the Reston Fun Fair.

30 Yrs. – Oct. 12, 1988

Kari Dawn Cook of Pipestone and her horse Slip Me Ten qualified for the Canadian National Quarter Horse Show which was held in Lethbridge, AB…A fatefull day for a house owned by Lorne Jago. It was torn down by the use of a large front end loader and a chain wrapped through some  windows. It is to be replaced by a RTM home.

40 Yrs. – Oct. 5, 1978

The Reston Credit Union is offering one year term deposits with interest at 9 ¼%...Fertile’s new hall is almost completed.

50 Yrs. – Oct. 9, 1968

Rain Tuesday halted combining with over half an inch falling

60 Yrs. – Oct. 9, 1958

A new kitchen designed and built by Lawrence Borreson will be in use when the ladies of the Antler United Church congregation serve at the 50th anniversary fowl supper on October 15th.

70 Yrs. – Oct. 14, 1948

The ladies of the Tilston United Church congregation held a social in the home of Mrs. H. Moir in honour of Miss Anne Campbell who has been in charge of church during the summer.

80 Yrs. – Oct. 13, 1938

Many from Winnipeg and other outside points visited the district for chicken shooting.

90 Yrs. – Oct. 11, 1928

Pupils from Pipestone under the leadership of Principal Hill, supplied a pleasing program at the Teachers’ Convention in Brandon…A handkerchief shower was held a the home of Mrs. J. Klusendorf in honour of Miss Beatrice Klusendorf, who is leaving to enter training in the Brandon General Hospital.

100 Yrs. – Oct. 17, 1918

Churches, theatres, etc are closed in Winnipeg because of the danger of Spanish Flu becoming an epidemic…The G.S. Munro Co. is issuing a semi-weekly paper called “Store News.”

110 Yrs. – Oct. 15, 1908

The Reston/Woseley line has reached Bering, Saskatchewan and 13 miles of ballasting remains to be done before the line can be opened to Wolseley.
