Mike, Darek and Stephen Vandenberghe of VanCo Building Supplies and RTM Sales said VanCo is steadily expanding, presently they have added design and drafting services to the company. They are hoping to be soon selling floorplans through their website. “We are cutting back on building supplies and concentrating more on building homes…Three skaters from Reston Figure Skating Club participated in the Virden Fun Skate: Kylie Hack, Halle Duncan, Hanna Wray…Manson Moir assisted by Dee McKinley and Beth Anderson and opened the Time Capsules during the Canada 150 Celebration held January 13 in the Tilston Hall…The event was hosted by the Tilston Community Club.

The Reston Rockets honoured Ross Tycoles and Kenn Forsyth by retiring their jerseys on January 10 after a banquet supper at Reston Rec Plex and prior to the 8:00 p.m. game. Forsyth #2 and Tycoles #21. Grant Schiltroth acted as emcee introducing both Ross and Kenn…Jolene Hamel of Reston is a CranioSacral Level 1 Practitioner. According to Hamel, CranioSacral Therapy is a light-touch approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction to improve whole body health and performance…Nicole Stewart (nee Campion) passed away suddenly on December 16 at the age of 22…The Reston and Area Foundation received donations from Corner Pocket Publishing Ltd., Reston Senior Curling and Pipestone Guild towards the purchase of defibrillators. The Guild’s donation was from the proceeds of Gerald Martin’s funeral and was graciously turned over to this worthwhile project.

The Reston Bakery officially closed on January 15. Along with this closure we lose two community members and Mainstreet will house one more ghostly building. Vera and Terry Abrams are returning to Calgary.
