Enbridge announced approximately $1.35 million in Community Investment funding will go toward more than 55 communities in Saskatchewan and Manitoba in support of locally driven projects and initiatives that support safe, healthy and sustainable communities. Enbridge contributed $25,000 to the Rural Municipality of Pipestone and the Cromer Recreation Centre…Terry Mayert of Brandon (formerly of Reston) was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame at a ceremony held in Morden…Librarian, Terri Vandenberghe of Reston welcomed everyone to Reston & District Library’s Grand Re-opening on June 14…Reston Nursery School held their Graduation Ceremony on June 13 at the R.E.S. Centre…After 31 years, Eleanor Gillander has decided to retire from teaching at Reston School…Archie and Vera McPherson met with the parents of Jacob Leicht, a 19-year-old Humboldt Bronco, that was one of 16 killed in the tragic bus crash. They presented them with a painting that was purchased at a fundraiser.

Christian Clavelle with the help of Bryon Jago delivered a Level – C CPR and AED E Course. Five Philips HeartStart FRx Automated External Defibrilators were purchased and placed in the RM of Pipestone, Cromer, Scarth, Sinclair, Pipestone and Reston…Tundra Oil & Gas Ltd generously donated $50,000 to the new Sinclair Hall and $10,000 to the Pipestone Albert Ag Society…The Reston and Area Foundation presented Reston Collegiate, Reston Elementary, Alstone Lodge, Willow View PCH, Sinclair Hall, Pipestone Drop In and Reston and District Library with a copy of RM of Pipestone’s history book, “The Sequel”.

Bill Campbell, Reston and Rev. Wiebo Ludwig, Hyth, Alberta are members of the Western Canadian Land Stewardship Council which is seeking stories re oilfield pollution, for its date bank…Belle Acres at Belleview will be a brighter place to be with the help of the RES Grade 5 class. On Thursday, June 17th they travelled to Belle Acres to paint a mural…Wendy Bell daughter of Don and Helen Westbrook of Carberry, MB, met with the 24-year-old Michael Schrenk who saved her life.

30 Yrs. – June 21, 1989

Friends and relatives gathered at the Cromer Hall to honour Harriet and Stan Lewarne on their retirement from the Cromer Café.

40 Yrs. – June 21, 1979

The Sinclair 10 and under baseball team played in the Souris tournament on June 17th and brought home the trophy. Sinclair players: Blair Kabbeke, Jimmy Zarn, Tim Moir, Brian Ramsey, Jamie Irwin, Ricky Cop, Jeff Zarn, George Moir…Mr. and Mrs. Bob Durand are the new owners of the Pipestone store.

50 Yrs. – June 19, 1969

Rev. E. Schurman will be the new pastor of the Reston United Church, succeeding, Rev. J.H. Dyckman.

60 Yrs. – June 25, 1959

A variety concert in the Reston United Church on Wednesday evening was enjoyed.

70 yrs. – June 23, 1949

Reston Girls Softball Club won first money at the Hartney Sports on June 9th.

80 Yrs. June 22, 1939

Some of the gravelling of streets and lanes in Reston has been done…The Brandon Pipe Band has been engaged to play at the Reston Fair.

90 Yrs. – June 20, 1929

Crop conditions remain favourable but a good rain would be welcome in the district. Early sown wheat is showing good growth but unfortunately, the wild oats are also showing up.
