Sunshine and children’s laugher set the scene at the Grand Opening of the Reston Splash Pad on June 28. Hundreds gathered for fun in the sun and a complimentary barbecue sponsored by council with RBC helping serve. Sunrise Credit Union supplied balloons and games for the children…The Manitoba 4-H Council recognizes Darcy Campion’s volunteerism for the past 15 years with the Pipestone 4-H Beef Club, for being assistant leader as well as head leader for a couple years.

10 Yrs. – July 4, 2009

Reston Collegiate Institute held their graduation ceremonies of sixteen graduates on Friday June 26, 2009 with the theme, “Dream as if you will live forever.”…The Rockets had a good week winning 3, losing 1 in the week from Sunday, June 21 to Sunday, June 28…The Sinclair Social Committee with the help of the Sinclair Lions, Sinclair Hall Committee, The Gentleman’s Club, RM of Pipestone-Albert Recreation District and countless other volunteers put on the 1st Annual Red Neck Days on Saturday, June 27, ad Sunday June 28.

Reston Collegiate Graduating Class of 1999: Maegan Halls, Aimee Taylor, Crystal McConnell, Angela Thiessen, Melissa Davis, Patricia Seens, Travis Paton, Paula Henuset, Brett Fotheringham, Diane Smith, Shawna Wilson, Lacy Jago, Kelly Donald, and Adam Muzylouski…Maegan Halls received the Governor General’s Academic Award.

30 Yrs. – July 5, 1989

Graduating Honour Roll Members of RCI are: Jim Busby, Jennifer Reimer, Janet Kenkaren, Mary Ann Anderson, Darren Zarn, Aubrey Jackson, Clayton Smeltz, Edwin Brockman, Kathe Ludman, and Angela Campbell.

40 Yrs. – July 5, 1979

Mr. Ron Deacon of Reston was presented the “Driver of the year” trophy for 1979 by the Fort La Bosse School Division.

50 Yrs. – July 3, 1969

There was a small turnout at the Decoration Service held in Reston on Sunday. The Rivers Pipe Band led the parade.

60 Yrs. – July 9, 1959

The largest crowd in history attended the Bellgarde Sports Day. Meal sales were $993.00.

70 Yrs. – July 7, 1949

Over 1000 attended the Sports at Antler on July 1st. Reston took top money defeating Antler in the final…Reports have been received by the Reston Recorder of crop damage by Aphids. Extensive damage is being done in the Belses district.

80 Yrs. – July 6, 1939

At a well attended meeting in Cusack’s Hall, Reston on June 30, Branch No. 106 of the Canadian Legion, the British Empire Service League was organized.

90 Yrs. – July 4, 1929

Dr. H.O. McDiarmid, of Brandon, was in town on Saturday and held a tonsil clinic at the office of Dr. F.H. Clark…Sinclair Sports Day was a success on Friday with Sinclair winning first money in baseball defeating the Sinclair Bearded Men in the final.

100 Yrs. – July 3, 1919

A number of soldiers returned home to Reston last week from overseas, Clarence Wilson, Welland Ready, John Bulloch, William Miller and James Ready.
