Certo Best Jam Contest: 1st, Lil Smith; 2nd, Jean Elliott; 3rd, Velma Chester…The Federal Progressive Conservative Leader, Joe Clark, got a first hand view of the devastation caused by the recent excess water and flood conditions in the area…Bill Grant and Dian Garrow were united in marriage on July 3, 1999 at Pipestone, MB…Road Kill Café was the Summer Sizziler Cook off winner at the Reston Lions Club sponsored event winning $1,000.

30 Yrs. – Aug. 2, 1989

Annette Halls of Sinclair was crowned Queen of the Reston Fair. Joelle Lalonde of Reston was 1st Princess and Tina Walker of Pipestone 2nd Princess.

40 Yrs. – Aug. 2, 1979

Over 1500 people registered for Reston Homecoming ’79 from all parts of Canada and the USA. Coreen Gilliard was crowned Queen at the Fair.

50 Yrs. – July 31, 1969

Nearly 3000 attended the Reston Fair on Thursday, July 24th…Donna Jones of the Reston Home Ec. Club was crowned Queen of the Dress Review of the Virden Rally on Sunday.

60 Yrs. – Aug. 8, 1959

Over 500 registered at the 50th Anniversary of Sinclair United Church on Sunday.

80 Yrs. – Aug. 3, 1939

Miss Ruth Simpson of Winnipeg, has been engaged as the teacher for Bardal School…It was the first time a fair has been held since 1930 and credit for its success goes to J.I. Bulloch, president, and A.E. Smith, secretary, as well as an enthusiastic group of directors.

90 Yrs. – Aug. 1, 1929

Mr. Elliott James, distinguished scientist, will speak on and demonstrate some of the properties of liquid air at the Reston Chautauqua on Tuesday afternoon, August 13.

100 Yrs. – July 30, 1919

There was a small attendance at the annual meeting of the Reston School District on Monday evening. Elected to the board were Mrs. T. A. Bulloch, Mrs. A.E. Smith and Rev. J.L. King.
