Profit for the Reston Fun Fair that was held on October 2 was $4,877.01…Chris and Tricia Sauvé of Winnipeg are excited to announce the birth of their daughter, Madelyn Joann, born on August 12. Proud grandparents are Ray and Joann Sauvé…Reston Health Centre has recently erected a beautiful cedar gazebo in their front sitting area for residents and their guests to enjoy…The Reston Gentlemen’s Club presented the Reston Figure Skating Club with a donation for $500.00 to purchase an iPod system for the Rec. Plex and $500 to the Reston Fitness Centre…As of September 15, 2009 Fotheringham’s Hock ‘n Ham Hog Barn was purchased by Designed Genetics Inc.

Every year Marion Mayert and her family raffle off a Thanksgiving Dinner at the Reston and District Auxiliary Fun Fair…Full time medical services will be a available at the Reston Medical Clinic until November 5. Subsequent to Dr. A. Louw’s notice of resignation effective October 22, Dr. S. Cleto has generously offered to provide medical services to the community…The Reston 4-H Pony Club, Saddle and Spurs held their 3rd Annual Terry Fox Ride, raising $226.00…G&M Ag and Auto Service is pleased to announce that Todd Van Loo has recently joined their staff.

The RM of Albert the following incumbents went back into office by acclamation: Reeve Manson Moir, Ward 1 – Jim Reid; Ward 2 – Darrell Halls; Ward 3 – Ron Thompson; Ward 4 – Tom Campbell…In the RM of Pipestone Jack Guthrie and Calvin Caldwell are running for Reeve. Ward 1 – Alvin Lazenby; Ward 2 – Bev Gray; Ward 3 – Gordon Forsyth; Ward 5 – Jim Wright; Ward 4 – Aurel Perreault and Joyce Marsh; Ward 6 – Bob Duncan and Verna Pennycook.

Everything co-operated but the weather for the 5th Annual Mayville Fair held at the Alplaza grounds about 10 miles north and four miles east of Reston.

Three are contesting the Reeveship in the RM of Albert. Tim Gould, incumbent, He.E. Milner, and Earl Halls. Ward 3 will have an election with Ray Jones, incumbent and nominee Frank Curtis.

80 Yrs. – Oct. 5, 1939

A Y.P.S Rally was held in the Pipestone United Church on Saturday. Officers installed included vice-president Mrs. J.P. Buss, Reston; Roy Campbell, Hillview Christian Fellowship; Jean Mann, Pipestone Christian Culture; and Jack MacIntyre, Pipestone leadership training.
