Reston played host for the 2nd Annual Southwest Business and Entrepreneur Expo on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in the RES Centre. This is an innovative business event featuring speakers, panel presentation, trade show, networking, and a business pitch event with an opportunity to win cash…Curling in the first draw at Tundra Oil & Gas Place, in the Viterra Men’s Provincial Championship was Team Marnoch: Bart Witherspoon, Scott Crayston, Branden Jorgensen and Kelly Marnoch…Approximately 40 riders and 12 non riders attended a snowmobile poker derby hosted by the RM of Pipestone Dance Club on Sunday, February 10 at the Sobry Farms south of Reston. Prizes: 1st, Tom Dickson; 2nd, Stacey Rey; 3rd, Dallas Coulter.

10 Yrs. – Feb. 17, 2010

Mark Toews, the owner of Cromer Valley Store, decided that his ‘everything store’ needed one more thing. It needed that freshly baked bread scent that reminds many people of home…Congratulations to Chris and Kelsey Elliott and Ryan Elliott and Ashley Campion who are representing Reston Collegiate at the 2010 Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games…Reston Elementary School Grade 2 & 3 class held a Bake Sale on Monday, February 8 with proceeds of $89.60 being forwarded to the Red Cross to help with earthquake relief in Haiti.

20 Yrs. – Feb. 22, 2000

On Friday, February 11, 2000, the Broomhill W.I. Ladies entertained at the Willow View Lodge. The afternoon started off with Evelyn Andrews and Doug Wilkinson, both from Melita, entertaining by playing some oldies.

30 Yrs. – Feb. 14, 1990

The 13th Annual Irwin Automotive Farmer’s Bonspiel was held February 9 and 10 with the A side winners being the Glenn Caldwell rink with Jan Caldwell, Ian Milliken and Debbie Thordarson.

40 Yrs. – Feb. 14, 1980

Doug Walker of Reston riding his Polaris TXL Indy, placed first in the 1250 Stock Class at the Regina-Minot International “250” Snowmobile Race.

50 Yrs. – Feb. 19, 1970

The following music students of Miss Rhea Forder were successful in the Royal Conservatory exams: Grade 11 Theory, First Class Honours – Larrie Elliott; Honours – Barrie Elliott; Harmony, Grade III Piano – Wendy Bird; Grade V – Ken Wilson.

60 yrs. – Feb. 18, 1960

Reston Rockets eliminated the Souris team in two straight games to enter the finals of the Intermediate A play downs.

70 Yrs. – Feb. 16, 1950

Neuf Olenick has been transferred to Grayson, SK where he will be the first man on the section there…The newly organized Sinclair hockey team journeyed to Tilston on Tuesday night via John Williamson’s Bombardier but came out on the short end of the score.

80 Yrs. – Feb. 15, 1940

The annual Reston Bonspiel got underway on Monday with 27 rinks taking part, 11 being from outside points. H. Klusendorf is draw master.

90 Yrs. – Feb. 20, 1930

The first annual banquet for returned soldiers was held at Reston on February 14th…Raymond Jones of Fairview Farm of Tilston was a member of the M.A.C. stock judging team that competed with judging teams from other colleges at Crookston, Min.

100 Yrs. – Feb. 19, 1920

Fred Craig’s Sinclair rink has made a good showing at the Winnipeg Bonspiel, defeating some crack city rinks.
