Happy New Year from Reston United Church

The season of Advent is upon us. Since Advent marks the start of a new year (in the church calendar), the New Year begins BEFORE Christmas.

It is a busy time for us at Reston United Church. Although we do not have a minister leading us, our doors are still open every week and we look forward to continuing to serve the needs of our community. Weekly services are conducted by a combination of retired ministers, licensed lay leaders and local congregation members. Our office is open on a random schedule, staffed by Marilee Smeltz. Any one who has particular spiritual concerns or needs may contact the office at 877-3702 and will be put in touch with someone who can assist them. Messages can be left outside of office hours.

Together with Pipestone congregation, we organize the Christmas Cheer collection for Reston, Pipestone and Sinclair areas. We welcome contributions to collection boxes placed around town. Cash donations or cheques made to Reston Pipestone Pastoral Charge will be eligible for tax deductible receipts, and may be left at the church office. Last year your generous donations meant that 15 hampers were distributed in Reston, Pipestone and Sinclair. Names for people to receive hampers may be given to the church office and will be kept in strict confidence.

Reston United Church is a place where all are welcome. Please consider joining us at a worship service this Advent and Christmas season. Happy New Year!
