Sinclair to Brandon Run, January 19th, 2020

Although there was some snow this year, there wasn't enough for a safe ride from Sinclair to Brandon.

This year George Milliken drove the truck to our destination points. Starting at Irwin Automotive, he received donations from Irwin Auto, Sinclair and Area Lions and individuals. His next stop was Pipestone where donations were received from Turnbull Sales and Service, Pipestone Lions Club. Next it was on to Virden Tim Hortons where the Virden Lions supplied lunch. Then over to the Lions Hall where donations were being received and coffee and donuts supplied to the public. A donation was received from Virden Lions. The next stop was Oak Lake where a donation was received from the Oak Lake and Area Lions Club. The final destination was the Brandon Airport Museum Hall where riders from all legs met.  Supper was supplied by the Wheat City Lions Clubs and was greatly appreciated.

At this point, approximately $34,000 has been raised by the 2020 Journey for Sight with more to come. All money raised goes to the Lions Eye Bank for sight enhancing tools and equipment, cornea transplants, funding assistance for the visually impaired and research, to name a few. The total funds raised for the (2019) Journey for Sight was $76,533.

A special thanks to all riders and support drivers, businesses, organizations, Lions Clubs, and individuals who supported the 2020 Journey for Sight. Thanks to the Virden Lions Club for lunch and the Wheat City Lions Clubs for supper.

Approximately $2,600 has been raised by the Sinclair to Brandon run at this point with more to come. Donations are still being received.

This year, because local snow conditions were again very poor, Adam Russell, Kelly Flannery, Mathew Russell and I, Brad Henderson, drove to Flin Flon to meet up with 16 other riders and make the journey to Brandon. Despite the cold weather all four of us made the trip with no problems except a little frostbite. We made new friends and renewed old acquaintances for a very worthy cause. A great time was had by all. Thanks to the group of dedicated riders and support drivers who made the journey out of Flin Flon. Anyone interested in seeing pictures of the ride can find them on the Journey For Sight Facebook page.
