Morden Hosts 23rd Baseball Hall Banquet

 The Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame met in Carberry, Wednesday, May 22 to finalize plans for their 23rd induction banquet at Morden Saturday, June 1 at 5:00 p.m.

 Eight individuals and four teams will be inducted. Major teams include Brandon Cloverleafs (2006 – 2012), Carillon Sultans (1996 – 2003), Small Community Team – Springfield Jrs. (2007 – 2011), Special Team – Coulter Red Sox (1968).

 Individual Inductees – Greg Cameron (Boissevain) Armin Gitzel (Carman), Dean McBride (Gladstone) Jon Robbins (St. James), Randy Robertson (Hamiota), Bruce Stephens (Cardale), Bob Senff (Oak Lake) umpire, Paul Edmonds (media, Goldeyes), Sager Family (Morden), Chuck Lindsay Pre 1950 (Hamiota, Reston).

 Ethyl Tibbatts, who passed away at 105, was a great patron supporter of the Baseball Hall of Fame, and recently, her estate donated $10,000 to the Museum.

 She eloquently accepted her late husband, Howie “Spike” Tibbatts induction statuette at the first induction banquet held in Morden (1999). Spike excelled as a pitcher in Binscarth, Winnipeg and Margaret. He was a grain buyer by profession.

 Coulter Red Sox has the greatest number of supporters (54) while Armin Getzil of Carman/Graysville topped individual inductees with 39 supporters. Over 400 people are registered to attend the 23rd baseball induction banquet.
