After a successful High School Rodeo season, 16-year-old, Tyler Vodon of the RM of Pipestone qualified to compete at the world’s largest rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyoming from July 15 – 21.
Forty-three states, five provinces from Canada, USA, Australia and Mexico sent their best teams to compete, a total of 1,650 competitors. Tyler joined forces with Shane McCannell of Pierson and competed in tie down roping and team roping. They made the top ten in some of their performances but fell short to make it to the finals. Tyler was accompanied by his parents, Aurel and Rita Vodon.
Nationals was a great experience for Tyler, he also competes in the MRCA Rodeo and is looking forward to participating in High School Rodeo again next year. Tyler will be entering grade 11 at Virden Collegiate and is active in the Pipestone 4-H Beef Club.
