Overnight collision in Winnipeg kills two pedestrians; driver stays at scene

WINNIPEG — Two people have been killed in an overnight vehicle-pedestrian collision in Winnipeg.

Police say a man and a woman were crossing a street on the city's east side just before 12:30 a.m. when they were struck.

Officers arriving at the scene provided medical treatment before the pair were taken to hospital in critical condition.

They were later pronounced dead.

Police say the driver remained at the scene and has been co-operating with their investigation.

There's no word on charges.
